897M39 is a high-strength low-alloy steel grade with excellent mechanical properties and good resistance to wear and abrasion. This steel grade is suitable for high-stress applications such as gears, shafts, and other mechanical components.

Mechanical Properties:
– Tensile strength: 1150-1350 MPa
– Yield strength: 1000-1200 MPa
– Elongation: 12-18%
– Hardness: 300-350 HB

Chemical Composition:
– Carbon (C): 0.35-0.45%
– Manganese (Mn): 0.60-0.90%
– Silicon (Si): 0.15-0.35%
– Chromium (Cr): 1.40-1.90%
– Molybdenum (Mo): 0.20-0.30%
– Phosphorus (P): 0.030% max
– Sulfur (S): 0.030% max
– Nickel (Ni): 0.40% max

The combination of high strength, good toughness, and excellent wear resistance makes 897M39 steel grade suitable for demanding applications in the automotive, aerospace, and machinery industries. It can be heat treated to further enhance its mechanical properties and is often used in the quenched and tempered condition for optimal performance.
